That's a question that New Yorkers have asked themselves for almost 50 years - and answered in the affirmative. We're the longest running gym in all of New York City!
Go to: www.joinmidcitygym.com Our gyms are fully equipped with the latest machinery for cardio and strength training. There’s an abundance of options should you choose to train with free weights, HardKore strength equipment, or resistance training from StarTrac, Precor, LifeFitness, Hammer Strength & More.
For those into a cardio workout, there are plenty of Stair Masters, Treadmills, Stationary Bikes, Rowing Machines, Cross-Trainers, etc. The author of this article, Johnny Premier, has been a member of Mid City since 2006 and has never ONCE had to wait to use a cardio machine at either the 42nd Street or 49th Street location!
Superstars that have trained at Mid City Gym include:
![]() Actors Sally Field, Lou Ferrigno (“The Incredible Hulk”) & Leonardo DiCaprio (well, DiCaprio tried to train)
WWE World Champions Hulk Hogan, The Iron Sheik (now featured on the Howard Stern Show) and Randy “Macho Man” Savage
Former Mr. Olympia turned Movie Icon turned California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
UFC Hall-Of-Famer Ken Shamrock, and
A myriad of competitors with the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation (WBNF)…even 8 time Ms. Olympia Lenda Murray!
What Mid City DOESN’T have are the high prices normally associated with a midtown NYC gym. Lets compare. If you’ve looked at other health clubs & gyms, you probably find their monthly rates buried, or not even listed. We proudly list ours:
Join this month and pay no enrollment fee! Not to go all "Crazy Eddie" on you, but our prices are insane!
Club H Fitness (55th & 9th): Not listed on their website – you have to “request info” – but their rates are $95/month with a 2 year commitment.
Golds Gym: Running a special for $689 per year, paid upfront and not including initiation fees, or $64/month with a 1 year commitment
Equinox: Not listed on their website, but we learned that at their 59th Street location, there is a $500 initiation fee and $130/monthly fee. For a humorous (but poignant) take on how ridiculous NYC gym rates can be, read this.
You get the point! Mid City Gym runs an efficient operation, and for that reason can offer memberships at costs well-below our competitors. Don’t take our word for it – read Mid City’s reviews on yelp.com, a notoriously difficult crowd to please! Click above left for a FREE workout!
